Gajendra Singh Shekhawat has been given the post of Minister of Jal Shakti in the 17th Lok Sabha under Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Gajendra Singh Shekhawat is an MP from Jodhpur, Rajasthan. In 2019 General Election, he won against Vaibhav Gehlot, son of Rajasthan CM, Ashok Gehlot.
In 16th Lok Sabha election, he held the post of the Union minister of state for agriculture in September 2017.
Shekhawat's political career started in 1992 when he became the president of the student union of Jai Narayan Vyas University-Jodhpur. He was active in social works and youth awareness activities.
He started his Lok Sabha journey as a member of the Standing Committee on Finance in 2014.
From 27 July 2016 onwards he was also Member, All India Council of Sports (AICS), Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Govt. of India.
He as a co-convenor organized Swadeshi Mela in Jodhpur under the umbrella of Swadeshi Jagaran Manch from 2002 to 2006. It was a successful event having approximately 10 lakh people coming to this event. This encouraged the selling of lots of Swadeshi goods and was appreciated by senior BJP leaders.
