According to the police sources in Lucknow, the victim had reportedly been gang-raped by three men, all residents of her village, a few months back.

They said that the local police, instead of taking action against, exerted pressure on the victim not to insist on lodging a complaint and compromise.

''The police refused to lodge the FIR though I had told them the names of the culprits... They tried to pressure me not to insist on the same,'' the victim said in her dying declaration at the hospital.

Her husband said that three again raped his wife a week back and threatened her with dire consequences if she approached the police.

Feeling humiliated the victim immolated herself and her son, sources said

One person has been arrested in this connection and a hunt was launched to nab the other culprits, police said.
