A German national who had attacked policemen in Uttar Pradesh's Sonebhadra district was arrested on Monday on charges of forging his visa.
A senior police officer said that Holger Ereek did not possess a valid visa. "He was found to be travelling on a forged visa," the police officer said.
Holger had "attacked" two policemen while being taken to the police station two days ago after an altercation with a railway employee at Robertsganj Railway Station in the district.
Holger had alleged that he was assaulted by a railway supervisor, Aman Kumar.
The supervisor had claimed that when he greeted Holger, saying "welcome to India", he spat on Kumar and also punched him in the face. "He (Holger) also took out a knife and attacked me," Kumar had claimed.
Additional Director General of Police (Law & Order) Anand Kumar said that Holger had "anger management issues".
"A case is already registered against Holger in Himachal Pradesh... His passport has been impounded," Anand Kumar added.
