A teenaged German tourist suffered injuries when a rickshaw puller and his associate stabbed him in Old Delhi before robbing him of his wallet and mobile phone, police said on Saturday.

Benjamin Scholt (19), who was on his second visit to India, hired the rickshaw from Chandni Chowk metro station to reach the Inter State Bus Terminal in Kashmere Gate to catch a bus to Amritsar on Friday night when the incident happened.

The rickshaw puller took a different route and a little later an associate joined them. At a secluded place, the police said, the duo tried to snatch his wallet and mobile phone, but Scholt used his martial arts moves to resist them. The rickshaw puller and his associate then stabbed him.
