Girl falls during parasailing event, hospitalised

The girl, identified as Natalia Saldanha from Mumbai, was participating in the festival organised by Advertisement Agencies Association of India (AAAI) and Ad Club Bombay at Cavelossim beach, 45 km from here.

Safety lapse

“Both safety hooks of her parasailing rope got snapped and she fell from a height of 200 metres,” an eyewitness stated. She fell on the sand, but despite that she was grievously hurt.

Goafest 2010 Chairman Colvyn Harris, confirming the accident, said thee victim was immediately given medical attention and rushed to hospital.”The accident is unfortunate and we will update you on her recovery,” he said.

Colva police said they were not informed about the incident.

State Tourism Department was quick to react to the accident stating that it’s shocking. “We will investigate what happened. We take utmost precaution to make sure that the water sports activities are safe,” state Tourism Minister Fransisco Pacheco said.

The two-day long event concluded on Sunday with more than 3,000 professionals from advertising field participating in it.
