Govt approves integrated security at 200 vulnerable railway stations

Anti-sabotage checks will also be in place at those stations, Minister of State for Railways E Ahamed said in a written reply.

He said Railways take several measures for the security of passengers. These include deployment of RPF personnel in 1275 trains and GRP men in 200 trains.

Regular coordination meetings were held with State Police at all levels to ensure proper registration and investigation of crime by the Government Railway Police, he said.The minister said there was a marginal increase in cases of loot and other crimes in trains last year compared to 2008. However, no case of burglary was reported in trains during the last two years, he said.
