Supporters of Patel quota stir leader Hardik Patel on Friday admitted him to a government hospital, soon after he complained of breathlessness on the 14th day of his indefinite fast seeking debt waiver for farmers and quotas for his community.

"He began complaining of breathlessness and we could see that he was losing consciousness. Before he goes into coma, all the PAAS leaders present decided to shift him to Sola Civil Hospital against his wishes," Manoj Panara, a close aide and PAAS convenor told reporters.

Hardik, who has been on an indefinite strike, had stopped consuming water since Thursday evening after his deadline for the state government to initiate talks with him ended without any response.

The state government on its part only once spoke about the fast in the past 14 days, with the industry minister in the Vijay Rupani-led government dubbing Hardik's agitation as "Congress-led".

“I am having difficulty breathing. I have been admitted to the hospital. The BJP (and its government) is ignoring the woes of farmers and demands of Patidars," Hardik said.

He is being attended to by a team of 10 doctors, including a nephrologist.
