Ahmedabad: At least four workers were killed in an explosion at a private factory in the industrial town Ankleshwar in Bharuch district on Tuesday. The were migrant workers from Uttar Pradesh and Bihar.

Police said that blast occurred at Detox India Private Limited, which deals in industrial waste treatment. It is located at Ankleshwar GIDC (Gujarat Industrial Development Corporation).

The storage tank is reported to have exploded when the workers were engaged in welding works atop the tank. An agitated worker told media that the blast was so powerful that it ripped apart bodies of the workers caught in the blast. Alleging cover up by the company management, he said that bodies were found at least 100 to 200 meters away from the spot.

The victims of the blast have been identified as Ashok, Harinath Yadav, Mukesh Singh, all residents of Uttar Pradesh and Palashram, originally from Bihar.
