New Delhi: In a swift medical evacuation at sea, the Indian Coast Guard deployed its ship to rescue a critically injured fisherman from a boat nearly 100 km south east of Gujarat's Pipavav, officials said on Monday.
The ICG shared the information along with some photographs in a post on X.
"In a swift #MedicalEvacuation, @IndiaCoastGuard Maritime Rescue Sub Centre #Pipavav deployed #ICG Ship C-419 to rescue a critically injured fisherman from #IFB Sankruti Sagar approx 100 KM South East of #Pipavav. Patient was stabilised enroute & safely handed over for further medical care. Condition of patient is stable. #VayamRakshamah #SafeSeas #WeProtect #MaritimeSafety #SavesLives," it said.
On April 24, the ICG in a post had said that ICG Maritime Rescue Sub Centre Pipavav had promptly diverted ICG Ship C-419 approximately 90 km off Jafrabad in Gujarat to rescue a fisherman in medical distress.
The fisherman had suffered severe chest pain and seizures.
