Ahmedabad: The Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad (IIMA) on Wednesday announced that it has signed an MoU with the United Arab Emirates (UAE) government for setting up its first overseas campus in Dubai.
The IIMA Dubai campus will be located in the Dubai International Academic City (DIAC), known as the education hub with a multicultural environment. This is the first time that IIMA is setting up its branch abroad. Initially, the institute said in a statement, that it will get a space in the DAIC to run the programme and later it will develop a permanent campus to be operational by 2029.
The institute said that as the first programme, the Dubai campus will offer a full-time one-year MBA course which has been "designed to cater to the advanced management learning and upskilling needs of global working professionals and entrepreneurs." The course will be spread over five terms.
The memorandum of understanding (MoU) was signed in the presence of IIMA director Bharat Bhaskar and Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence of the UAE, and Piyush Goyal, Union Minister of Commerce and Industry in a function held in Mumbai on Tuesday.
