Ahmedabad: Inaugurating several development projects worth nearly Rs 300 crore at the birthplace of Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Vadnagar in Mehsana district, the Union home and cooperation minister Amit Shah on Thursday said that the journey of Modi right from his childhood to becoming PM and a "world leader" will become "a subject matter for students" in the coming future.

"The whole life of Narendra Modi ji...the time he spent in Vadnagar as a child to becoming a prime minister and a world leader...his journey will become a subject matter of study for national and international students," Shah said after inaugurating the development projects at a public gathering.

Shah, on the last day of three-day home state visit, inaugurated an Archaeological Experience Museum, Prerna Sankul, where the PM received his early education, and a modern sports complex built at a cost of nearly Rs300 crore in Modi's hometown.

Showring praises on PM, Shah said that "it is said and also taught in psychology that a child raised in poverty and under constant ridicule gets influenced from them but Narendra Modi, the son of a tea seller...son of a poor mother, never let any bitterness come on his way."

Praising the development works in the town including the museum which showcases 2,500 years of history of Vadnagar, the union minister said that "it is part of Narendra Modi ji's resolution to feel proud of our heritage."

The government is developing Vadnagar as a heritage town and tourist destination for its connections with the ancient past.

"The city has long been a melting pot of Hindu, Buddhist, Jain, and Islamic traditions, making it a treasure trove of cultural and historical heritage. Despite its historical significance, Vadnagar remained relatively unknown until Narendra Modi, born in this city, became the Prime Minister of India. His vision has brought attention to Vadnagar’s legacy and its potential as a tourist destination," a statement released by the state government stated.

The Archaeological Experience Museum, which Shah inaugurated, is said to be the country's first of its kind. Built at a cost of Rs 298 crore, it spans over 2,500 years of history and is linked to a live excavation site by a bridge. It houses more than 5,000 artefacts that showcase the city’s ancient history and cultural wealth.

Shah also formally inaugurated ‘Prerna Sankul’, previously known as Vadnagar Kumar Shala Number 1 where the prime minister received his early education.  It was established back in 1888."The school aims to inspire youth to follow the educational path that shaped the Prime Minister's journey.

As part of the study tour, students from across the country visit for a week to learn and explore. To date, 36 groups, comprising 720 students and 360 teachers, have visited. The curriculum, developed by IIT Gandhinagar, includes 9 value-based subjects," the statement read.
