Ahmedabad: Prime Minister Narendra Modi led a km-long roadshow in Vadodara upon his arrival in Gujarat on Monday, for the first time after "Operation Sindoor", which was launched against Pakistan-based terrorists to avenge the killing of 26 people, mostly tourists, in Kashmir's Pahalgam.

The road from Vadodara airport to the Air Force Station was decked up with posters and banners, congratulating the prime minister and Indian armed forces for launching "Operation Sindoor".

"Sena ne sat sat Vandan. Modiji ne desh nu sampurn samarthan (Salute to the army. Full support of the country to Modi ji)," read one of the banners. Posters of PM Modi in army fatigues and surrounded by armed personnel with "Operation Sindoor" in the background had been put up along the route.

A large number of men, women and children had gathered on both sides of the routes. The onlookers showered the roadshow of the PM with flower petals and greeted him along the route.

Among the onlookers were the family members of Colonel Sofia Qureshi, who joined the roadshow of the Prime Minister. The members included her parents, Taj Mohammed and Halima Qureshi, her twin sister Shyna Sunsara and brother Sanjay Qureshi.

After the roadshow, Sunsara told reporters, "We met the prime minister. It was an honour to meet the prime minister. Not everyone is that lucky. People were greeting and chanting. It was not required to say anything as a feeling of patriotism was arising out from within..."

The prime minister is expected to hold another mega roadshow in Ahmedabad in the evening, from Ahmedabad airport to Indira Bridge. The entire route has been decked up with posters and banners welcoming the PM to Gujarat for the first time after "Operation Sindoor."

All the banners and posters with "Operation Sindoor" in the background welcomed the "son of soil", Narendra Modi, to his home state for the first time after the India-Pakistan air battle.

During his two-day visit, Modi is expected to inaugurate and lay foundation stones for development works worth overRs 82,9500 crore in Dahod, Bhuj and Gandhinagar.
