If you are young with roots in Gujarat but have been living outside the state and seek to visit your home state to get a better understanding and re-establish a connect, the Vijay Rupani government in Gujarat has a proposition for you.
"The state wants Gujaratis living outside Gujarat, within India, to know about the cultural, social, industrial and linguistic heritage of their home state. We have now designed a 10-day package for such youths between 18 and 26 years of age," Pradeepsinh Jadeja, Minister of State for Home and in-charge of Non-Resident Gujarati (NRG) division, said.
According to the new initiative, the state tourism department would organise package tours for a batch of 25 youths to visit and see for themselves the "industrial growth and development", visit various cultural hotspots, historic monuments and tourist places during their trip.
"They will also get to know about the language, handicrafts, culinary, etc and they would interact with experts and dignitaries from the field of education and culture," the minister said.
While the youth would be visiting multiple places during their 10-day stay, they would also be attending workshops for two days.
Talking about the expenses, the minister said that once the youths reach Gujarat, their lodging, boarding and travel costs would be borne by the state exchequer.
They only need to bear costs of travel from and to their respective states. The only other rider is that no more than two such batches would be entertained in a given year.
