This comes almost a month after he praised Chief Minister Narendra Modi for his development work in the state which drew criticism from human rights groups and NGOs. Hazare was in Ahmedabad on a day-long visit and took pot-shots and Modi and his administration at several pubic meetings which he attended.

In another significant remark, Hazare said the country faced more serious threat from the people from this country itself than from those in Pakistan.

While Gujarat projected the image of being India's most progressive state, anyone visiting it would see scam after scam in the land of Gandhi, Hazare remarked.
