Heavy rain lashes Maharashtra

The twin coastal Konkan belt districts of Ratnagiri and Sindhudurg received heavy rainfall on Wednesday and Thursday, resulting in inundation in several places and disruption of traffic.

According to the IMD's Mumbai-based Regional Meteorological Centre, similar weather conditions are expected to continue in the two coastal districts of Maharashtra and neighbouring Goa.

On Thursday, the maximum rainfall of 270 mm was recorded in Devgad in Sindhudurg. Malvan and Vengurla recorded 170 mm rainfall each.

The Met Department has forecast that heavy to very heavy rainfall is likely to occur at isolated places in districts of South Konkan and Goa, isolated places in South Madhya Maharashtra and Marathwada. Similar weather conditions are expected on Saturday and Sunday.

The Mumbai Metropolitan Region is expected to receive one or two bouts of rain and thundershower.
