19-year-old Viksit Rana, a resident of the Gharer village in Chamba and 14-year-old Piyush Kumar from the Malkota village had gone for a trek in the region reportedly on January 23. Sheru, Viksit's pet dog had, accompanied them as the two boys went to shoot videos for Viksit's vlog. They went missing as they ventured into the snow.

Their bodies were later spotted by rescue teams after three days of search and rescue operation. As soon as they came closer to the bodies, they found Sheru sitting beside Viksit's body, leaving them shocked. Piyush's body was found later during the operation.

The bodies, along with the dog, were then airlifted from the spot and were handed over to their families.

As videos of the Pitbull's unwavering loyalty circulated around the internet, it has left many viewers in tears as praises shower for Sheru.

A comment under a share of the clip read, "Four days in freezing snow, blizzards, no food—and still the dog refused to leave them. This level of loyalty breaks the heart," saying how to never trek alone without checking forecasts or taking a local guide.

Another post read, "In biting cold and deep snow, the pet dog sat beside their bodies for four long days, without food, refusing to abandon them. As the mountains fell silent, loyalty stayed — till the very end."

"Sometimes humanity’s purest lesson comes from an animal. Rest in peace, little souls. And salute to that brave, faithful heart," the post continued as the user elaborated on the incident.

"This is heartbreaking for the dog to let his best friends go like this. Dog is man's bestest friend. He has shown the love, care and loyalty even everyone leaves but dog is the one who still stand with him. This doggo is no different at all. May, God give peace to their souls," another user commented under the clip.
