According to district police super Manoj Verma, the massive search operations undertaken by the paramilitary forces and state police in two forested areas yielded the highest catch so far.

Six 12 bore rifles with 17 rounds, 8 mm 55 rounds, 9 mm 20 rounds and Maoist literature.
Jawaharlal Mahato who was believed to have treated the Maoist spokesman Kishenji, was taken into custody.

Meanwhile, alarmed over the groundswell of support the Maoist movement has found in the leading college and university campuses of the city here, specially in the Calcutta and Jadavpur universities, the authorities have decided to mount extra vigil in the academic institutions to prevent them from turning into centres of indoctrination.

“We’re currently surveying the places in some of the institutions for installing CCTV cameras to maintain a close watch on the campuses,” sources told the DHNS here. “Many people visit these campuses on various errands and assignments. We've to keep a vigil over a sudden increase of visitors in some of them.”
