With fresh Panama Papers revelations saying that Amitabh Bachchan was a board member of two offshore shipping companies, the actor said on Thursday that he is now participating in the government probe launched to look into veracity of expose on shady global business transactions.

“The government sent me a notice 10 days ago and I have replied to all the queries raised. I will continue to cooperate over any further information the government may need. We should allow the government to do its job,” Bachchan said.

The Indian Express came up with new details in a story published on Thursday to contradict Bachchan’s defence that he was never associated with any offshore companies and suspected that his name might have been misused.

The news report claimed that the actor was a board director of Tramp Shipping Limited and Sea Bulk Shipping Company and he participated in the meetings through telephone conference in December 1994.

The documents obtained by the newspaper also showed that Bachchan’s name figured in the list of directors and office-bearers on the Certificate of Incumbency issued by both companies.
