In trouble-torn Manipur, the disruptions in academics due to unrest and strikes have taken a toll on the performance of the students

Not a single student managed to pass the High School Leaving Certificate Examination in 73 government schools of the total 323 schools in the state, official sources told DH.

Of the 6,484 students who appeared for the examination, only 2,781 have passed.A source in the Education department said the government is perplexed by the pathetic performance and is even contemplating to shut down some of these zero pass percentage schools.

For decades, schools and colleges in Manipur have not been able to finish their education calendar owing to disruptions that continue for months due to unrest, conflicts, protests and strikes.

In 2013, there were 28 government schools with zero pass percentage in the board exams.

In 2014, this figure increased to 48.

In 2015, the figure further swelled to 70.
