In the past one week, the Prime Minister has made it clear on two occasions – at a public meeting in Bihar and his ‘Mann Ki Baat’ radio broadcast – that India will track and hunt down the terrorists involved in the gruesome terror strike and their patron, in an apparent reference to Pakistan.

Pakistan on Wednesday claimed it has "credible intelligence" that India is planning military action against it in the next 24-36 hours and warned New Delhi that there would be consequences.
The statement came hours after Prime Minisiter Narendra Modi on Tuesday told the top defence brass that the armed forces have "complete operational freedom" to decide on the mode, targets and timing of India's response to the Pahalgam terror attack, government sources said.
Tensions have risen between the two countries after the Pahalgam terror attack last week that killed 26 people. Modi had said that India will "identify, track, and punish" the terrorist and their "backers" attack and pursue the killers to the "ends of the earth", as India stepped up the diplomatic offensive against Pakistan.
Firing by Pakistan Army was also reported from their posts across the LoC in Baramulla and Kupwara districts, as well as across the International Border in the Pargwal Sector.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is reportedly slated to chair two top-level cabinet meets today, one with the Cabitnet Committee on Securty (CCS), around 11 am, and another with the Cabinet Committee on Political Affairs (CCPA).
The Cabinet Committee on Political Affairs (CCPA) last convened following the 2019 terror attack in Pulwama, Jammu and Kashmir, to assess the security environment and devise appropriate countermeasures. During that meeting, a decision was made to revoke Pakistan's Most Favoured Nation (MFN) status. Subsequently, on February 26, 2019, the Indian Air Force conducted airstrikes targeting terrorist camps in Balakot.

I appeal to the government to give us some time. I have cast my vote here, I have my ration card...Whatever happened there (Pahalgam) is wrong. I condemn this incident. NCP (SP) chief Sharad Pawar on Wednesday backed the Congress' demand for a special session of Parliament to discuss the Pahalgam terror attack and said this would send out the message that the country is united.
Addressing a press conference after attending the consecration ceremony at a ‘Tulja Bhavani’ temple here, Pawar called the massacre of tourists in Kashmir an attack on the country and said he will support the Centre in whatever steps it takes in this matter.
“Some of our colleagues have made the demand (for a special session of Parliament). The entire country is united on this issue. All parties and Parliament are united. A special session (on Pahalgam) would be useful to send this message to the world,” Pawar said. (PTI)
Pakistan's national carrier on Wednesday cancelled all flights to and from Gilgit, Skardu and other northern areas in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir due to security reasons, local media reports said, amid rising tensions with India following the Pahalgam terror attack.
Citing the flight schedule, Urdu daily Jang reported that the Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) cancelled two flights each from Karachi and Lahore to Skardu.
Two flights from Islamabad to Skardu and four flights from Islamabad to Gilgit have also been cancelled, the paper said, quoting aviation sources. (PTI)
Addressing a press conference on Wednesday, Congress MP and Leader od Opposition in the Lok Sabha reiterated opposition's full support to take action on the Pahalgam terror attack.
"Govt has opposition's 100 per cent support, PM Narendra Modi has to take action. Action has to be clear and strong; PM Modi must not dilly-dally but act soon," he told the media.
US Chargé d’Affaires Natalie Baker on Wednesday met Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar as part of efforts to de-escalate tensions with India following the Pahalgam terror attack on April 22 in which 26 people were killed.
According to the Foreign Office, US Chargé d’Affaires Baker and Dar exchanged views on recent regional developments.
“The US Chargé d’Affaires conveyed the US desire for de-escalation and that it will stay engaged with both countries on the evolving situation,” the Foreign Office said.
It added that Dar reaffirmed “Pakistan’s commitment to regional peace and security while safeguarding national interests”. (PTI)

While trying to access these accounts, a message was displayed that read, “Account not available in India. This is because we complied with a legal request to restrict this content."
The clampdown is being seen as the latest development in the escalation between the two countries following the Pahalgam terror attack.
Qatar, Saudi Arabia and Kuwait on Wednesday expressed their deep concern over the escalation between India and Pakistan following the Pahalgam terror attack and called on both sides to exercise restraint and resolve the crisis through diplomatic channels.
Qatar's Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in a statement, reiterated the nation's "full support for all efforts aimed at de-escalating tensions" between India and Pakistan and addressing their outstanding issues through dialogue and peaceful means.
"Dialogue remains the optimal approach for addressing regional and international crises and disputes," the statement said, expressing Qatar's "deep concern" over the escalation between India and Pakistan.
It called on the two countries to "exercise maximum restraint, prevail the voice of wisdom, respect the principles of good neighbourliness and resolve the crisis through diplomatic channels." (PTI)
