Multiple blasts were heard in Srinagar city early Saturday morning, hours after the Indian military thwarted drone attacks by Pakistan at several places here late last night.
According to officials, the blasts were heard near vital installations, including the airport.
As soon as the blasts were heard, sirens went off in the city.
Power has also been snapped in the city and most other parts of the valley, the officials said.
A senior government official was killed and his two staff members were critically injured in Pakistani shelling in Rajouri district of Jammu and Kashmir early Saturday, officials said.
Additional Deputy Commissioner, Rajouri, Raj Kumar Thapa and his two staff members were seriously injured when an artillery shell hit his residence in Rajouri town, the officials said.
They were rushed to the Government Medical College. Thapa succumbed to his injuries while the condition of his staff members is stated to be critical, according to the officials.
Chief Minister Omar Abdullah condoled Thapa's death.

Details emerge terrorists killed in the Indian strikes on 7th May in Pakistan: Sources
1) Mudassar Khadian Khas @ Mudassar @ Abu Jundal. Affiliated with Lashkar-e-Taiba. His funeral prayer was held in a government school, led by Hafiz Abdul Rauf of JuD (a designated global terrorist). A serving Lt. General of the Pak Army and the IG of Punjab Police attended the prayer ceremony.
2) Hafiz Muhammed Jameel. Affiliated with Jaish-e-Mohammed. He is the eldest brother-in-law of Maulana Masood Azhar.
3) Mohammad Yusuf Azhar @ Ustad Ji @ Mohd Salim @ Ghosi Sahab. Affiliated with Jaish-e-Mohammed. He is brother-in-law of Maulana Masood Azhar. He was wanted in the IC-814 hijacking case.
4) Khalid @ Abu Akasha. Affiliated with Lashkar-e-Taiba. He was involved in multiple terrorist attacks in Jammu & Kashmir and was engaged in weapons smuggling from Afghanistan. His funeral was held in Faisalabad and attended by senior Pakistani Army officials and the Deputy Commissioner of Faisalabad.
5) Mohammad Hassan Khan. Affiliated with Jaish-e-Mohammed. He was the son of Mufti Asghar Khan Kashmiri, operational commander of JeM in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK). He played a key role in coordinating terrorist attacks in Jammu & Kashmir.
Indian Army's Air Defence units early Saturday morning shot down multiple Kamikaze drones launched by Pakistan after they crossed the International Border in Punjab's Amritsar, defence sources said.
The drones, identified as Byker YIHA III models, were launched around 5 am and were headed toward densely populated civilian areas, they said.
The Indian Army’s Air Defence (AAD) system responded swiftly, detecting and destroying the drones within seconds of their entry into the Indian airspace, the sourdes added.
The drones were brought down using quick-reaction air defence guns deployed along the border. No casualties or damage to civilian property was reported, the sources said.
Initial findings suggest the drones were carrying high-explosive payloads designed to cause mass civilian harm. They described the attempted strike as a "fresh low" in Pakistan’s continuing provocation.
The incident highlights the efficiency of India’s multi-layered air-defence system, which combines ground-based radars, electro-optical sensors, and automated control systems for real-time threat response. (PTI)

Mangaluru Commissioner of Police Anupam Agrawal on Saturday issued an order banning the use of drones in the city from 4 pm on May 10 to 4 pm on May 14. The order was enforced to maintain peace and prevent any untoward incidents in view of the escalating tensions between India and Pakistan.
The use of drones for flying or videography during the period is strictly prohibited. All police inspectors have been directed to ensure that order has been strictly followed within their respective station limits, the Police Commissioner said.
US president Donald Trump made a big claim amid ongoing tensions between India and Pakistan and posted on Truth Social that both the countries have agreed for a full and immediate ceasefire. He claimed that "a long night of talks was mediated by the United States" leading to the decision.
US Secretary of State Marco Rubio on Saturday said that India, Pakistan have agreed to start talks on broad set of issues at a neutral site.

Pak DGMO called Indian DGMO today afternoon and it has been agreed upon that all military actions in sea, on land and air will stop, coming in effect from 1700 hours today, foreign secretary Vikram Misri said on Saturday.

Pakistan’s assertion that our ammunition dumps in Chandigarh and Beas were damaged is yet another baseless claim.
Shortly after the announcement of ceasefire between India and Pakistan, the western neighbour announced opening of its airspace for all kinds of traffic.
Complete blackout has been enforced in Jammu as well.
“We call upon Pakistan to take appropriate steps to address these violations and handle the situation with seriousness and responsibility. The Armed Forces are maintaining a strong vigil on the situation and have been given strict instructions to respond firmly to any repetition of border violations along the International Border and the LoC.”
Punjab reimposed blackout measures in several districts as a precautionary measure after withdrawing it earlier on Saturday.
Blackout measures have been imposed in many districts including Hoshiarpur, Ferozepur, Fazilka, Pathankot, Patiala, Moga, Kapurthala, and Muktsar districts.
The development came after Pakistan violated the bilateral understanding reached this afternoon to immediately stop all firings and military actions on land, air and sea.
The district authorities in Punjab earlier withdrew blackout measures and restrictive orders after India and Pakistan agreed to an immediate ceasefire following four days of intense cross-border drone and missile strikes that brought the two countries teetering on the edge of full scale war.
Amritsar Deputy Commissioner Sakshi Sahwney said, "Since there are reports of ceasefire violation, we will remain on alert today.
"We will observe a blackout if and when needed. I advise all kindly be prepared for enforcement of blackout if the need arises and be at home. Please do not indulge in bursting of firecrackers. We have done this drill several times, so please do not panic. This is by way of abundant caution."
The Hoshiarpur district administration said that blackout was imposed at 8:50 pm and an air raid siren was sounded.
An army trooper was injured in a brief exchange of fire with a suspected terrorist outside a camp here on Saturday, an official said, as a massive search operation is on to secure the area.
The incident took place in the high-security Nagrota area late Saturday evening, the official said.
“On noticing suspicious movement near the perimeter, alert sentry at Nagrota Military Station issued a challenge, leading to a brief exchange of fire with the suspect. Sentry sustained a minor injury,” the army’s Jammu-based White Knight Corps said.
Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann on Saturday ordered release of additional water to Rajasthan "for catering to needs of military in the state," an official statement said here.
The statement quoting the chief minister said that the Rajasthan government had sought more water from the quota of Punjab "as the military deployed at the Rajasthan border needed additional water".
In the wake of the recent drone attacks by Pakistan, Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Saturday held interaction with the civil society members here to discuss steps taken for public safety, state of preparedness and the importance of maintaining communal harmony during these critical times.
The chief minister during the interaction urged the public to remain calm and vigilant, appealing to the citizens not to panic and to rely solely on verified and official sources of information.
Stressing the importance of effective communication, he outlined a set of measures aimed at enhancing public awareness and strengthening the emergency response mechanism across the region.
Congress Rajya Sabha member Digvijaya Singh on Saturday welcomed the understanding between India and Pakistan to stop all firings and military actions, and said the neighbouring country should desist from harbouring terrorists.
“The animosity between both countries has developed as Pakistan openly harbours terrorists. We appeal to the prime minister and the government of Pakistan to stop sheltering terrorists because if you do that, what has happened now will happen again,” Singh said.
Different churches in Mizoram offered prayers on Saturday evening to contain the India-Pakistan military conflict, a church leader said.
He said Mizoram Chief Minister Lalduhoma had appealed to all churches in Mizoram to offer prayers to restore peace and friendship between the countries.
Following this, the Council of Churches in Mizoram (CCM), a conglomerate of nine major churches, including Presbyterian and Baptist Church of Mizoram (BCM), appealed to its member churches to hold special prayers as per their convenience either on Saturday evening or Sunday to seek divine intervention for restoring peace and containing the present conflict, he said.
Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini on Saturday issued directions to ensure robust emergency management systems and prevent panic during critical situations.
He emphasised proactive coordination, swift responses and public reassurance as key priorities.
Saini was presiding over a high-level review meeting via video conferencing with deputy commissioners (DCs), commissioners of police (CPs), superintendents of police (SPs) and administrative secretaries.
The meeting was held earlier in the day amid the ongoing military conflict between India and Pakistan. However, later in the day, the directors general of military operations (DGMOs) of India and Pakistan agreed on a ceasefire.
Saini reiterated that the government is fully committed to public safety.
He assured the people of the state that there is no need to panic as all essential commodities including food, medicine, fuel and daily necessities are available in sufficient quantities across the state.
As India and Pakistan on Saturday worked out an understanding on stopping firing and military action, the UK and Saudi Arabia welcomed the development while the European Union termed it a “vital step towards de-escalation” and said all efforts must be made to ensure it is respected.
Germany said the ceasefire agreed between the two countries is the “first, important step out of the escalation spiral”.

The Mumbai unit of Congress on Saturday took out `Jai Hind Yatra' to express solidarity with the armed forces in the wake of the military conflict with Pakistan. "Our country has always been peace-loving. But if anyone tries to undermine our country's identity, our soldiers have once again shown how to give a befitting reply," city unit chief and MP Varsha Gaikwad told reporters. "The Jai Hind Yatra is a humble tribute to express our gratitude and salute the bravery of all the soldiers who fight to protect and preserve the pride of our country," she said. The march started from Kherwadi junction in Bandra, and ended at the district collector's office.
Two more persons were arrested in Assam for allegedly "defending" Pakistan, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said on Saturday.
With this, a total of 50 such arrests have been made since the Pahalgam terror attack that killed 26 people, he said.
Those arrested were identified as Jobbur Islam of Biswanath and Ruhul Amin of Morigaon, Sarma posted on X.
A complete blackout was imposed in Gujarat's border district of Kutch late Saturday evening after several drones were spotted in the district, officials said. The development came after India and Pakistan reached an understanding to immediately stop all firings and military actions in the afternoon. "Several drones have been spotted in the Kutch district. A complete blackout will be implemented now. Please stay safe, don't panic," Minister of State for Home Harsh Sanghavi announced on X.

A planned emergency blackout drill was conducted at the Pune airport on Saturday evening amid heightened security concerns in the country, a senior official said. The mock drill took place between 8.25 pm and 8.45 pm and was aimed at testing the airport's preparedness and response to potential power outages or other emergencies, he said. The drill had been planned in view of the India-Pakistan military conflict.

A soldier was killed when he was hit by a fragment of a Pakistani drone, which was successfully intercepted by the Army Air Defence at an air base in Jammu and Kashmir's Udhampur district on Saturday, officials said.
India and Pakistan agreed to a ceasefire along the Line of Control and International Border on Saturday. Tension between India and Pakistan soared after the Indian Armed Forces hit terror launchpads in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) last week in response to the Pahalgam attack.

Mortal remains of Rifleman Sunil Kumar brought to his residence in Trewa village of Jammu. He lost his life in the line of duty, during the shelling by Pakistan, in RS Pura sector.
Delhi airport authorities on Sunday said operations are normal but some flights and the processing time at security checkpoints might be impacted due to the changing airspace dynamics and enhanced security protocols.
Enhanced security measures that were implemented in view of the tensions between India and Pakistan are still in place at airports.

As per the government sources, Operation Sindoor is not concluded and there is new normal in India's response to cross-border terrorism. Sources also revealed that the cost of cross-border terrorism will be raised and Pakistan can't continue with terrorism while expecting cooperation in areas of its choosing.
The only matter related to Kashmir to discuss is Pakistan returning territory under its illegal occupation, PTI sources added.

Air Marshal AK Bharti said that only terror camps were targeted with precision. The Air Marshal shared before and after pictures of the Operation Sindoor on May 7 that targeted terror infrastructure in Pakistan's Bawahalpur and Muridke.
"On the evening of May 7 Pakistan launched a barrage of UAVs and small drones on our military and civilian areas. In response we destroyed their air defence system in Lahore," Air Marshal AK Bharti.
"The operational edge of Indian Navy in sea contributed to Pak's urgent request for ceasefire."
"I received a message on hotline from Pak DGMO. Our talks led to cessation of firing. We decided to further speak on May 12. However, disappointedly and expectedly, Pakistan violated the understanding. Earlier today, we sent another message communicating the violations."
The DGMO also paid homage to five Indian Army personnel who lost their lives in the conflict.
"There is information from various agencies that 35 to 40 Pak Army personnel lost their lives at LoC. Their other causalities are still being assessed," Lt Gen Rajiv Ghai said responding to a question on how many casualties were inflicted on Pakistani side.
On a question that whether Indian quest can be called a "victory" he reiterated that "justice has been served" for Pahalgam attack.
"We are in a combat scenario and losses are part of that. What needs to be asked is whether we have reached our aim and the answer is yes.
