The states which have effectively implemented the population control programme and consequently whose population share has come down, should not be penalised and the Centre must enact necessary constitutional amendments for this purpose.

On the delimitation row, Rajya Sabha MP and BJP OBC Morcha National President Dr K Laxman says, "People are angry with the Tamil Nadu government that is there for the last 10 years under the leadership of MK Stalin—the government that is sunk in a liquor scam.
"The BJP is rising in Tamil Nadu; in the last election, the BJP alone got 11% votes. NDA is now becoming a strong force in the South. Congress or any other regional parties cannot face the BJP alone. They also fought against one another, but now they all had a meeting in Chennai as they are afraid of the BJP.
But, the people in the South today are with PM Modi. NDA is there in power in 21 states, and soon we will be in power in Telangana and Tamil Nadu."
While Andhra parties stayed away from the Chennai meeting on delimitation held on Saturday, the gathering brought two political rivals in Telangana—ruling Congress and opposition BRS—onto the same platform.

"The all-party meeting that happened yesterday in TN on delimitation issue hosted by DMK, left an impression that it was an staged drama. The invitation letter sent out by MK Stalin states that he is not against delimitation, but the exercise will reduce seats. But in every nook and corner DMK is saying it loud that delimitation itself is wrong, wo which one is true? We from AIADMK propose that the proportion of 7.18 pc that TN has wrt to MPs should not change which was intentionally omitted by DMK, it clearly leaves an impression that DMK is desperate to stick on to narrative of delimitation which they want to carry to 2026 elections by hiding all incompetencies and failures which is stinking deep in corruption, and law and order is in shambles. So delimitation exercise for DMK is a big drama,' said AIADMK spokesperson Kovai Sathyan
"Today Sanjay Raut said that when Kareena-Saif went to meet PM Modi, they were worried about Taimur. I don't know who gave him his information. But one thing is sure that he is worried about Taimurs of the country. The way he made statement about Nagpur riots saying that Hindus were behind it, I condemn it. Everybody knows that Hindu organisations had protests, it is the right to protest. The protest had ended in afternoon. The riots were instigated in the evening. Arson happened on will. It seemed that there was an attack from an enemy. Almost everyone was arrested, the mastermind Faheem Khan was also arrested. Now we came to know that his mentor makes 'Mujahideen'. The Uddhav Thackeray family has come in support. Uddhav Thackeray will put photo of Aurangzeb at Matoshree," said Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Nirupam.
The Congress Sunday termed the Waqf (Amendment) Bill an "assault" on the Constitution and alleged the proposed legislation was part of the BJP's "continuing attempts to damage" the centuries-old bonds of social harmony.
It is also part of the BJP's attempts to "demonise minority communities" by spreading propaganda and creating prejudices, the opposition party alleged.
Congress general secretary in-charge communications Jairam Ramesh said the Waqf (Amendment) Bill, 2024 is "deeply flawed". (PTI)
"Ramji Lal Suman said what he said because everyone is turning the pages of history... The leaders of BJP want to debate about Aurangzeb. So, Ramji Lal Suman also turned a page in history where something like that was written. We did not write the history 100-200 years ago. I request the BJP not to turn the pages of history because if that happens, then people will also remember that when the 'Tilak' of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj was going to happen, no one did it. His Tilak was not done with the hand but with the toe of the left foot. Will the BJP criticise this today?... Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj's tilak was done with the left toe, will the BJP apologise for it?...," said SP chief Akhilesh Yadav.
"Religion-based reservation is not possible; it (reservation) is possible for backward class within that religion and it has been provided in Karnataka, Maharashtra and many other states. Religion-based reservation is not accepted in the Constitution authored by Babasaheb Ambedkar. Anybody doing it is going against the architect of our Constitution," RSS General Secretary Dattatreya Hosabale told reporters in Bengaluru.
On CBI filing closure report in actor Sushant Singh Rajput death case, Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Sanjay Raut said, "People of BJP do not let go of any opportunity to defame their rivals. They are frauds. There was an investigation and report had come that it was suicide. But they get hold of anyone and get a petition filed. This doesn't work in politics. Some things should be taken care of. Don't make someone's family the victim of politics."
On the Joint Action Committee (JAC) meeting held by Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin on the delimitation issue, BJP leader Tamilisai Soundararajan said, "It is clearly written on the Election Commission website that there will be no change in the number of seats... why do they want to hold a meeting despite all the clarifications? They (DMK) are deceiving the people of Tamil Nadu. Other Chief Ministers who have come here are also deceiving the people of the respective states... We want to clearly highlight the importance of the new National Education Policy (NEP), they are misleading the people of Tamil Nadu... NEP only means three language policy... We want to clarify the doubts raised among the people by the DMK party." (ANI)
Speaking at an event on the occasion of Shaheed Diwas, Aam Aadmi Party national convenor Arvind Kejriwal said, "Whatever dreams the freedom fighters had in their minds, not even a single dream of theirs is being fulfilled today... The letters that Bhagat Singh had written from jail had a lot against the British, yet the British used to send them to his comrades. When I was in jail, I wrote a letter to L-G that I was in jail, so Atishi should be allowed to hoist the flag. There was nothing wrong with this. I gave a letter to the jail superintendent, but the letter did not reach L-G, and I got a show cause notice that how dare I write such a letter. Bhagat Singh had the freedom to write any letter, but I could not write a letter of two lines. You (BJP) are worse than the British."
On the I.N.D.I.A. bloc, Senior advocate and Rajya Sabha MP Kapil Sibal said, "Why are you asking me, ask those who want to strengthen it. They are unblocking their bloc. First of all, they should maintain their bloc and present their attitude like a bloc in front of the public and present their views about what they think. It should have a spokesperson, a secretariat, a policy, a minimum program."
"I do not understand such politics, I am far away from it. If they have to seriously face this government, then the opposition parties will have to come on one platform and move forward with one program. They should raise such issues which are really related to the public. They say that they will make engineering books in Tamil when we come to power, does it have anything to do with the future," he added.
