News regarding the death sentence of Nimisha Priya, an Indian national imprisoned in Yemen being overturned on Tuesday is inaccurate, sources revealed to news agency ANI.

The Indian Grand Mufti's office had claimed that Priya's sentence was completely overturned, as per an earlier report by ANI.

Priya, a nurse from Palakkad district of Kerala, was convicted of murdering her Yemeni business partner in 2017. She was sentenced to death in 2020, and her final appeal was rejected in 2023.
