In the third phase of the Chhattisgarh Panchayat Elections, the citizens of Kerlapenda village cast their vote for the first time after Independence, ANI reported.
"... Voting is taking place after 75 years here. People from the nearby villages are also reaching out to cast their votes... I am happy that we will move towards development. This is the first time we would get a chance to raise our demands in front of the leaders...," said a resident of Kerlapenda village.

Senior BJP leader Dilip Ghosh on Monday slammed the West Bengal government over the alleged mess in the health department.
"Nobody in the (state) government pays attention to those who are responsible for the mess in the health department, just a few doctors are suspended when an issue is raised... because they are associated with the (TMC) party...," he said while speaking reporters in Kolkata.
Speaking on Suvendhu Adhikari's demand for NRC in West Bengal, Ghosh said, "Everyone knows who has fake voters... Fake voter cards, ration cards and Aadhaar cards have been made in West Bengal... 62 lakh ration cards of Bangladeshis have been cancelled... Voter lists are amended and when we complain, it is not considered... because TMC workers are trying to make voters aware..."
Barely three months after the Maharashtra assembly polls, the Uddhav Thackeray-led Shiv Sena (UBT) has been jolted by a series of desertions, with several party functionaries and even former MLAs abandoning the party.
The latest big name to quit the party was Rajan Salvi, a three-time MLA from the Rajapur assembly seat in Ratnagiri district in the coastal Konkan region.
A staunch supporter of the Thackerays, Salvi joined the Shiv Sena, led by Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, with his supporters earlier this month. Days later, another former MLA from Konkan joined Shinde’s party along with many Sena (UBT) office-bearers.

Tamil Nadu BJP vice president Narayanan Thirupathy attacked the DMK over implementation of NEP in the state.
...If you (DMK) are against Hindi, what the DMK people should have done is go to schools run by DMK politicians, protest and tell them that if Hindi is taught in these schools, then they would protest. Why are you eyeing only poor rural students? Do you (DMK) have the guts to say we will not teach English in schools?...A CM of such age and experience talking irresponsibly is not right," he said.
Leader of Opposition in Delhi Assembly, Atishi, said that she hopes first installment of Mahila Samman Yojana will come into account of every woman of Delhi by March 8.
"We had asked for time from the Chief Minister for the last 2 days, we did not get time for 2 days and today we went to meet Chief Minister Rekha Gupta ji during the session and we told her that the promise made in the first cabinet, the guarantee given by Modi ji, that promise has been broken, that guarantee has been proved false. Delhi CM Atishi on Monday accused the BJP of "having anti-Dalit mindset."
"The anti-Dalit mentality of the Bharatiya Janata Party is well known. Today, a proof of its anti-Dalit mentality has been presented. Arvind Kejriwal had put up photos of Baba Saheb Ambedkar and Shaheed Bhagat Singh in every office of the Delhi government. Since, BJP has come to power, BJP has removed both these photos from the Chief Minister's office. This shows that the BJP is an anti-Dalit, anti-Sikh party," she said.
