Raj Thackeray reaches Worli Dome in Mumbai, where leaders of Uddhav Thackeray faction (UBT) and Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) are holding a joint rally as the Maharashtra government scrapped two GRs to introduce Hindi as the third language.
Thousands of MNS and Shiv Sena (UBT) workers marched enthusiastically to the venue of the joint rally organised by cousins Uddhav and Raj Thackeray on Saturday, sharing the public platform for the first time after nearly 20 years.Amid a heavy rush, hundreds of workers forced their way inside the NSCI Dome campus in Worli to listen to the Thackeray brothers."Supporters of both parties forcefully entered the venue by breaking down the main gate. Police later shut the gate again to avoid the repeat of the incident. A posse of police personnel has been deployed at the spot," an official said, adding that police have installed additional barricades at the spot.

Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) Raj Thackeray says, "I don’t have anything against Hindi, no language is bad. It takes a lot of effort to build a language. We Marathi people ruled over a lot of states during the Maratha Empire, but we never enforced Marathi on those parts. They started with the experiment of imposing Hindi over us and were trying to test if we would not have opposed it, they would have gone upto making Mumbai separate from Maharashtra."
Navnirman Sena (MNS) Raj Thackeray says, "They say that our children have learnt in English medium schools. So what? Dada Bhuse studied in Marathi schools and became a minister.
"Devendra Fadnavis studied in an English-medium school and became the Maharashtra CM. So what? I would tell you that I studied in a Marathi school, but my father, Shrikant Thackeray, and uncle, Balasaheb Thackeray, studied in an English medium school. Can anyone raise a question about their love for Marathi? Tomorrow, I will learn Hebrew also. Will anyone raise a question about my pride in Marathi?
Shiv Sena (UBT) Chief Uddhav Thackeray says, "We have come together to stay together"
Uddhav Thackeray faction (UBT) and Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) are holding a joint rally at Worli Dome in Mumbai, after the Maharashtra government scrapped two GRs to introduce Hindi as the third language.
Uddhav Thackeray said, "You (Shiv Sena) have used us enough already. If you didn't have the support of Balasaheb Thackeray, who knew you in Maharashtra.
"Who are you to teach us about Hindutva? When riots were happening in Mumbai, then we Marathi people had saved every Hindu in Maharashtra, be it anyone. If you are calling Marathi people 'gundas' doing their protest, seeking justice. Then yes, we are 'gunda'.
Shiv Sena (UBT) Chief Uddhav Thackeray says, "They always ask us what we did for Marathi people in Mumbai during our rule in BMC. Now we are asking the question: in the last 11 years of your rule, what have you done? You have pushed away Mumbai's important establishment to Gujarat. Businesses are being transferred to Gujarat. Big offices are going to Gujarat. The diamond business has already shifted to Gujarat, so you have made all attempts to break the backbone of Maharashtra and continue to do that, and you are asking questions to us."
Karnataka Minister Priyank Kharge says, "Do you know how RSS is funded? Nobody knows how RSS is funded. How are they building hundreds and thousands of crores worth buildings? How are they getting money to run schools in every district of the country? How are they getting money to run as an organisation?"
Maharashtra minister Nitesh Rane has hit out at the Thackeray cousins - Uddhav and Raj - over their joint rally in Mumbai, terming it as a "jihadi and anti-Hindu gathering" aimed at dividing society and weakening the state.
After two decades, Uddhav and Raj on Saturday shared the public stage and hosted a victory gathering, titled 'Awaj Marathicha' in Mumbai's Worli area, to celebrate the rollback of two Government Resolutions (GRs) issued earlier by the Devendra Fadnavis-led dispensation introducing Hindi as a third language from Class 1 in state schools.
Youth Congress holds protest march to Kerala Health Minister Veena George's residence demanding her resignation over Kottayam Medical College tragedy.
BJP's Annapurna Devi slams Congress on photos of Rahul Gandhi on sanitary napkin packets. "I feel sorry over their thinking. They remember all these during the election. It is ridiculous that even if they are distributing pads, then why are they putting Rahul Gandhi’s photo on it? Congress talks about schemes during the election and forget after that."
Asserting that the BJP will continue to fight the radical elements that were "receiving patronage" of the Mamata Banerjee government, the party's new West Bengal president Samik Bhattacharya on Saturday appealed to "educated Muslims" to oust the TMC from power in the state.
Addressing his first press conference as the state president, Bhattacharya said the BJP believes in Syama Prasad Mookerjee's ideal of inclusiveness, as India is defined by its pluralism. (PTI)
