Life abroad in countries like the US and Canada is often considered to be very prosperous, with better living standards, salaries and job opportunities. However, a recent video that has been making several rounds on the internet seems to break such misconceptions.

A video shared by an Instagram user @kanutalescanada, addressing the widespread belief among Indians about Canada, asked viewers to share her video with everyone who assumed life here was easy when it comes to landing good jobs.

Speaking in Hindi, she said, “Guys, hamare jo Indian friends ya relatives hain jinko lagta hai ki Canada mein bahut jobs aur paisa hai, unko ye video dikha dena”.

Showing the ground reality of looking for a job abroad, the Indian woman, now based in Canada, turns her camera to reveal a long queue of job seekers who, as per her description, were gathered outside an employment event.

In the caption, she wrote, "Life abroad isn’t always a dream. Sometimes it’s just… a long queue." "The hiring was for 5-6 days, and not 5-6 people. Still doesn't change the fact that there's struggle to start with, and one should be prepared when they come abroad," the caption further read.

Several users commented on her post, which is now viral, and one user said, "Vancouver has jobs , the issue is skill mismatch, not job shortage. Companies like Microsoft, Amazon, Lululemon, BC Hydro, Telus, FortisBC, and Vancouver Coastal Health are always hiring. It’s about having the right skills, not blaming the city/country."

Another said, "Also, first honest video I saw of letting people know the truth. There are other influencers trying to give people the wrong information and impression to move to Canada."

A third mockingly wrote, "I don’t think people will look at the long line.. they will look at the luxurious ship and beautiful buildings behind.."
