As many as 17 students of humanities stream grabbed the top three positions in the Class XII board examination conducted by the Council for Indian School Certificate Examination (CISCE) this year, leaving behind their science and commerce counterparts.
In science stream, 14 students and in commerce 13 students took the top three spots in the examination, according to the results announced by the CISCE on Tuesday.
A total of 86,713 students from CISCE-affiliated schools appeared for the Class XII board examination this year.
Of them, 96.52% students came out with flying colours.
Bengaluru's Vibha Swaminathan, a student of humanities stream, and Devang Kumar Agarwal from Kolkata, a science stream student, topped scoring 100%.
A total of 16 students from different states, including Fuzail Nayeer from Bengaluru, were placed second with a score of 99.75%.
As many as 36 students, who included two from Bengaluru, ranked third with a score of 99.50%.
Girls performed better than boys with a higher pass percentage. While the overall pass percentage among girls was 97.84%, the pass percentage among boys was pegged at 95.40%.
Class X results
In the Indian Certificate of Secondary Education (ICSE) examination held for Class X students, Juhi Rupesh Kajaria from Mumbai and Manhar Bansal from Punjab grabbed the top position scoring 99.60%.
As many as 10 students were placed in the second position with a score of 99.40%. A total of 24 students from different states, including Sadhana V from Bengaluru, ranked third with a score of 99.20%.
Over 1.96 lakh Class X students of the CISCE schools appeared for the ICSE examination this year. Of them, 98.54% students came out with flying colours.
“Girls have done better than boys with a pass percentage of 99.05%. Boys have achieved a pass percentage of 98.12%,” CISCE chief executive and secretary Gerry Arathoon said.
