Two days after the Andhra Pradesh High Court cancelled his bail in connection with the illegal assets case, Vijay Sai Reddy, auditor and close aide of YSR Congress party chief Y S Jaganmohan Reddy, on Monday surrendered before the CBI court.

He was remanded to judicial custody till May 7. Vijay Sai’s bail was cancelled by Justice KC Bhanu last week after the CBI challenged it by contending that the conditional bail granted to him by the special CBI court could hamper its investigations in the illegal assets case.

After spending over three months in the Chanchalguda Central Prison, Vijay Sai was released on April 13 on a conditional bail granted by the special CBI court. Vijay Sai was arrested by the CBI on January 2 and was listed the number two accused in the charge sheet filed by the investigating agency last month.

Meanwhile, Vijay Sai’s counsel has appealed before the High Court to continue Justice Nagamaruthi Sarma, who has been following the case since day one and recently being posted to the newly started CBI court at Gagan Vihar complex. The High Court has asked the CBI to file a counter to the plea by Tuesday.
