Srinagar: The Army on Wednesday foiled an infiltration bid along the Line of Control (LoC) in border Poonch district of Jammu, killing at least two unidentified terrorists in a swift counter-terror operation.

“In a successful anti-infiltration operation, alert troops of the #IndianArmy eliminated two terrorists attempting to infiltrate across the Line of Control. Swift action and accurate firepower thwarted the nefarious designs. Three weapons have been recovered,” said a spokesman of the Army, in a post on X.

The operation underscores heightened alertness along the volatile LoC, where repeated infiltration attempts have been reported in recent weeks.

The fresh encounter comes just two days after security forces neutralised three foreign terrorists—Suleiman alias Asif, Hamza Afghani, and Gibran—linked to the gruesome April 22 terror attack in Pahalgam that left 25 tourists and a local dead.

The trio was killed during a meticulously planned operation codenamed “Operation Mahadev” in the dense Dachigam forest area on the outskirts of Srinagar.

The twin counter-terror operations point to intensified efforts by security forces to dismantle terror modules and prevent cross-border infiltration amid increasing attempts to disrupt peace in the region.
