Lucknow: Pakistan woman Seema Haider, who had crossed the border to marry her Indian lover Sachin Meena two years back, has made an impassioned appeal to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath to let her stay in India and not to deport her to Pakistan.

Seema’s appeal came in the wake of cancellation of visas of Pakistani nationals who were visiting India, by the government following the Pahalgam terror attack in which 26 tourists were killed. The government has ordered all Pakistani nationals to leave the country.

In a video, which went viral on social media, Seema, who lives in Greater Noida with Sachin and had recently given birth to a baby girl, said that she was the ‘daughter’ of Pakistan but now she was the ‘daughter-in-law’ of India.

‘’I have converted to Hinduism after marrying Sachin and I don’t want to go to Pakistan,’’ she said in the video. ‘’I appeal to the government to let me stay here,’’ she said.

Barely a few days back, a video of Seema’s first husband Ghulam Haider, a Pakistani national made rounds online, in which the latter was seen showing a ‘chappal’ (sandal) and saying that he would thrash Seema after she returned to Pakistan.

Seema, who met Sachin through Facebook, crossed into Nepal and from there to India with her four children, was arrested a few days later along with Sachin by the police. They were later released on bail.

Seema’s lawyer expressed hope that she would not be deported to Pakistan as she had married an Indian citizen.
