During the night of April 28-29, 2025, the Pakistan Army resorted to unprovoked small arms firing across the Line of Control in areas opposite Kupwara and Baramulla districts, as well as the Akhnoor sector, the Indian Army said in a statement.
The Indian Army responded in a measured and effective manner to the provocation.
India said that the "strong, unequivocal" support and solidarity extended by global leaders in the wake of the terrorist attack in Pahalgam is a testimony to the international community’s "zero tolerance" for terrorism.
"The Pahalgam terrorist attack represents the largest number of civilian casualties since the horrific 26/11 Mumbai attacks in 2008,” India’s Deputy Permanent Representative to the UN, Ambassador Yojna Patel, said. (PTI)
"If the government can call an all-party meeting, then it should not have a problem with convening a special session of the Parliament on such a big issue. In the Parliament, leaders of different political parties can keep their views, suggestions and also ask about the preparations being done by the government," said Sanjay Singh.
"We hope that our demand for a special session will be fulfilled...PM Modi was not present at the all-party meeting. We demanded on 22nd April that the all-party meeting should be held on this issue...PM Modi should participate in the discussions in Parliament and tell us what happened and how this terrorist attack took place. There is no political agenda. The Congress has only one formula- Unity...," said Jairam Ramesh.
"Congress party is taking its orders from Pakistan. The same tweet of the Congress party was quote-tweeted by the former minister of Pakistan. So today it has become clear before the country that a 'jugalbandi' is going on between Congress and the deep state of Pakistan...Under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, India will give a befitting reply to the masters of terror of Pakistan..," said BJP spokesperson Pradeep Bhandari.

At least 26 people, mostly tourists, died in the April 22 terrorist attack in Pahalgam. The execution-like killing by terrorists after reportedly asking about the victims' faith has left the entire country grieving and outraged.
Voicing the concern of tourists who survived the attack, Yadav, in a post on X, asked, "Why was there no one to protect me (the public) amid danger?"
In the social media post, he went on to question the government's security policies, ostensibly referring to alleged Gujarat conman Kiran Patel who had allegedly posed as a PMO official and visited Kashmir under security cover. "Why are some individuals, who later turn out to be frauds, given such tight and comprehensive security by the government?" the SP chief posed.

Farooq Abdullah hits out at Pakistan over Pahalgam terror attack, says "We have always said that terrorism is not acceptable to us. Terrorism is finishing both you and us. So, it is time for them (Pakistan) to understand this. They said that Mumbai attack wasn't their work, but it was proved to be done by them. Pathankot attack was executed by them. Uri attack was done by them...In Kargil, they started a war. I was the CM. They said they weren't behind it. But when they started losing, they rushed to President Clinton...They accepted that they had instigated the war. So, it's time. If you want to remain friends, this will not work, you will have to end it. If you want to be enemies, you are ready and so are we."
