Bengaluru: As many as 1,700 students will take part in the Kannada Rajyotsava celebrations on November 1 at Kanteerava stadium here.

After inspecting the premises to check the preparations, School Education and Literacy Minister Madhu Bangarappa on Thursday said, "Of the total 1,700 students, 700 are from government schools. All participating students will get certificates."

The minister said the number of participants has increased this year. "Last year, a total students of 1,100 took part, of which 300 were from government schools. CM Siddaramaiah will inaugurate the event on Saturday and announce some new schemes for the department in the interest of students," he said.

The minister said the department was gearing up for celebration of Children's Day (Nov 14) in a unique manner this time. "We are planning to celebrate by bringing students, parents and teachers together," he added.

The admission drive planned to attract students to government schools will begin formally on Nov 1. The minister said 13,000 teachers have been appointed and another 10,000 will be hired soon.
