Mangaluru: A 10-month-old baby boy died after allegedly swallowing a used beedi discarded by his father. The deceased is Anish Kumar.
In a complaint, Lakshmidevi, a native of Bihar currently residing in Mangaluru, said that her husband works for wedding event decoration and was away at work when the incident took place.
The baby was playing when he accidentally swallowed the used beedi. On noticing the child falling sick, Lakshmidevi immediately alerted her husband, and they rushed the baby to Wenlock District Hospital in Mangaluru.
Despite the efforts by doctors, the child died on Sunday.
Lakshmidevi said that she repeatedly warned her husband against discarding beedis inside the house. However, he ignored it, which cost them their son's life.
A case has been registered at the Mangaluru Rural Police Station.
