11 contestants file papers for MLC elections in Mysuru

A total of 11 candidates filed their nomination for elections to the Legislative Council from south graduates’ constituency on Monday, the last day for filing papers. As many as 29 nominations have been received from 19 candidates till now.

Former MLC and JD(S) candidate K T Srikantegowda, former MLA and Kannada Chaluvali Vatal Paksha president Vatal Nagaraj, K P Chidanand from Samajwadi Party (SP) and  Independents H N Manjegowda and Y S Siddaraju (Congress rebels), R K Govil, Ravishankar M N, Veerabhadra Swamy, Manju G N and Vishwanath G S  filed their nomination papers. Another candidate H K Krishna is contesting on Karunada Party ticket.

While Srikantegowda filed his nomination in three sets, Vatal handed over the papers in two sets. Congress nominee Dr H N Ravindra filed another set of nomination.
Prominent among others who have filed their nomination till now are- BJP nominee M V Ravishankar and Prof K S Bhagwan as Independent.

The scrutiny of nomination papers will be taken up on May 24, from 11 am onwards at the regional commissioner’s office in Mysuru. The last date to withdraw nomination is  May 26, 3 pm, according to a press release.
