Two persons were attacked by a wolf at Vadageri village in Ameengad hobli limits on Tuesday.

Sakrappa Hanumappa Itagi, a 12-year-old boy, was grazing sheep along with his uncle, when he was attacked by a wolf. Similarly, the wild animal attacked Yamanurappa Basappa Mushigeri, a 30-year-old farmer, while he was busy working in the fields.

The duo have received injuries on their heads, ears and hands. They are undergoing treatment at the Kumareshwara Hospital and Research Centre in Bagalkot.

Irate residents of Vadageri chased the wolf to death. Forest Conservator of Guduru sub-zonal forests, Anilkumar Loni, and his team, conducted a post-mortem on the wolf.The residents rued that wolf menace had increased in Guduru, Vadageri, Dammur, Muradi and other villages. The wild animals were targetting the crops cultivated by the farmers, they said.

Speaking to Deccan Herald, Loni said that so far, they had not received any complaints from the residents. After seeking details from the victims of wolf attack, a proposal seeking compensation will be forwarded to the taluk forest officer, he added.
