A large number of people participated in the Beach Utsav held at Kalihithlu in Shiroor.

As many as 14 teams took part in the tug of war contests, although separate competitions were held for men and women.

A boat race as well as a boat ride was organised for visitors.

The food festival during the Beach Utsav drew foodies with delicacies like biryani.

The Utsav was organised jointly by the district administration, the Alvegadde Nadadoni Meenugarara Sangha, the Kalihithlu Minority
Traditional Fishermen’s Association, the Besuge Foundation of Byndoor, and the JCI, Shiroor.

Entrepreneur Manegar G Saheb, who inaugurated the Utsav, said that there is ample potential in the coastal districts for tourism.

“There is a need to organise Beach Utsav to attract tourists. The district administration should support tourist activities in the region,” he urged.
