Vijayapura: BJP Raitha Morcha state president A S Patil Nadahalli said on Sunday that the tur farmers in the district are staring at a devastating crop loss due to substandard seeds supplied by the private companies while the deputy commissioner and joint director-Agriculture were busy protecting the interests of the seed companies.
“More than 15,000 farmers will lodge a complaint with Lokayukta against the DC and the joint director from December 10 seeking action against the officers over their inaction,” Nadahalli told reporters here.
He added that criminal cases will be registered against the officer in question for shielding the private seed companies which distributed poor quality seeds resulting in a massive crop loss.
The Vijayapura district administration is as good as dead. This government is delaying the crop loss survey to avoid giving compensation to farmers, Nadahalli complained.
