Belagavi: A BCA student ended her life by hanging in her room at Dr B R Ambedkar Post Metric Girls Hostel at Ramthirth Nagar in Belagavi on Saturday.
She has been identified as Shilpa Yamnarnal a resident of Shiggaon in Haveri district.
Shilpa was 22-year-old student of Sangolli Rayanna First Grade Government College.
She was found hanging in her room on Saturday. Her reasons for taking this extreme step are still unknown.
Social Welfare Department Joint Director Ramangouda said, the hostel was new and had CCTV cameras.
There were no lapses on part of hostel management. We have been told by the college staff that she was good student.
Parents of the girl have been intimated and reasons fpr she taking the extreme step can only be known after they file complaint.
Mal-Maruti police are investigating.
