Belagavi: About 23 students of Government Kannada Primary School at Markendeya Nagar in Belagavi taluk suffered due to food poisoning after lizard was found in midday meals served in the school on Tuesday. Health condition of four students was serious and they have been admitted at Belagavi Institute of Medical Sciences District Hospital for treatment.
Students have been admitted in government and private hospitals for treatment and their condition was stable. Students who showed signs of recovery were taken home by parents.
Deputy Director of Public Instructions, Belagavi Leelavati Hiremath told DH that students complained of stomach ache and began vomiting after 6 pm. They were immediately shifted government and private hospitals in the vicinity for treatment. Condition of four students was serious and they were admitted at Belagavi Institute of Medical Sciences District Hospital. Doctors say they were stable.
A total of 23 students had consumed midday meals. Later it came to notice that lizard had fell in the meals after which students got panicked. It led in them making complaints of vomiting sensation and stomach ache, she said.
