Koratagere: Three people were killed and three others were injured after a fertilizer-laden lorry rammed a roadside bakery in Kolala in Koratagere taluk, Tumakuru district, on Tuesday morning.
The deceased have been identified as Rangashamayya, 65, a resident of Katenahalli; Bylappa, 65, a resident of Puradahalli and Jayanna, 50, from Kolala. The injured are Kantharaju, Siddagangamma and Mohan Kumar who have been admitted to a hospital. All six were working at the bakery when the incident occurred.
The accident occurred when the driver of the lorry lost control and ploughed the heavy vehicle into the bakery.
Rangashamayya and Bylappa died on the spot, while, Jayanna breathed his last at a hospital.
In the past too, a lorry had rammed a shop, resulting in a death, at the same location.
The road connecting Tumakuru to Kolala slopes down near the village. The speeding vehicle and the narrow road in the village all lead to accidents.
A case has been registered by Kolala police station.
