Bengaluru: Revenue Minister Krishna Byre Gowda said on Friday that the government had formed a three-member team from the Drinking Water and Cleanliness Department to look into the mistakes in implementing the Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM).

Gowda was answering on behalf of Rural Development and Panchayat Raj Minister Priyank Kharge to a calling attention motion in the Legislative Assembly by senior Congressman T B Jayachandra, who had noted that there had been fraudulent transactions in 2,528 works. 

Responding to it, the revenue minister said: "The team has visited Tumakuru, chosen 571 works and studied 183 documents. The interim report has found the executive engineer guilty of awarding 69 tenders to 25 ineligible contractors."

Gowda said the government had approved chargesheeting the now-retired executive engineer.
