3-year-old was the first H1N1 victim in Bijapur

The boy, Godappa Biradar of Tavarkhed village in Sindagi taluk, was admitted to Ashwini Children’s Hospital on August  22 with high fever. When his condition worsened, doctors shifted him to the isolation ward in Al Ameen Medical College  Hospital on August 23.

Doctors  collected his throat swab and  sent the same to Bangalore for investigation and the boy was administered Tamiflu tablets. But the boy died on August 24 without responding to the treatment.

The cause of the death was confirmed on Friday after the reports arrived from Bangalore. The boy’s parents had migrated to Pune in search of a livelihood about ten years back. They had returned to Bijapur after the boy developed high fever.
