Four people, including three teachers, were killed on the spot, while over 20 passengers were injured in a collision between two buses in Jevargi town in Kalaburagi district on Saturday.

The victims are Ayesha Siddiqui (35), Farheen Begum (40), both government primary school teachers at Chigaratihalli village, Sahara Kalootan (30), government school teacher at Yalwar village and Rukkappa Yeshvanthraya (55), the bus driver.

One bus was heading to Kalaburagi from Davangere, while another was towards Shahpur from Jevargi.

A dog suddenly came on the road near the taluk stadium. The bus driver applied brakes in order to save the dog. He lost control and collided with another bus coming from the opposite direction, said the police.
