4 killed as container lorry ploughs into hotel

Four people were killed and a man sustained critical injuries after a container lorry crashed into a roadside hotel near Boral in the taluk in the wee hours of Sunday.

Deceased are Ramesh Jaivantrao (45), Dhanraj Madiwal (50), Sanju Kumar Vishwanath (35), all residents of Boral, and lorry driver Amul (32).

Injured Kallappa Devarao has been shifted to a hospital in Hyderabad after being administered first aid in Bidar government hospital, said CPI Rameshkumar Mailurkar.

According to eyewitnesses, the speeding container lorry ploughed into the hotel, killing three persons on the spot. The driver too sustained grievous injuries and bled to death a while later.

Superintendent of Police T Sridhar, DySP Venkangouda and staff visited the spot.
