Mandya: Four members of family from Bengaluru were killed in a collision between a car and a KSRTC bus (Airavat) on Mysuru-Bengaluru expressway near Tubinakere, Mandya taluk and district, on Thursday afternoon.

The deceased were identified as Satyananda Raje Urs (59), his wife Nischitha Urs (51), his brother Chandrashekara Raje Urs (62), and his wife Sumedini Rani (56). Satyananda was an electrical contractor. His brother Chandrashekara was a retired Bescom employee.

It is said that they were on their way to Seeguru village in Periyapatna taluk of Mysuru district, to attend the funeral of N Raje Urs, maternal uncle of Satyananda Raje Urs, when the mishap occurred.

It is said that the person driving the car had slowed down near Tubinakere exit, while moving from the expressway to the service road. He turned again towards the expressway, when the speeding Airavat bus rammed the car. While two people died on the spot, the other two died en route to the hospital.

The car was mangled beyond recognition due to the impact of collision.

The bodies have been shifted to Mandya Institute of Medical Sciences. DIG (Southern range) Boralingaiah and SP Mallikarjuna Baladandi visited the spot. Mandya Rural police station has registered a case.
