Addressing a press meet on Monday the Commissioner said that action will be initiated against those home stays which failed to furnish details and such home stays will be considered as illegal.
According to a survey, there were 72 home stays in Madikeri in the past. However, the CMC members feel that there are more home stays. In this background, all the owners were asked to furnish details to the CMC by June 10.
The Commissioner said “though many of the home stays have registered with tourism department, they are utilising the services of the CMC. Hence, they should compulsorily provide details to the CMC. At the same time, home stays are not paying any tax to the CMC. As CMC does not get any income from these home stays, the CMC is planning to stop the facilities provided to them. Home stays should not have more than four rooms and should prepare food at home. The home stays should be run by the house owners, he said.
Citizen charter
The CMC has created citizen charter to help the public to know methods to be followed to get a document from the CMC and its functioning.
He said the charter provides complete details on what documents need to be provided to avail trade license, change of RTC, door number, death and birth certificates.
It says 45 days will be required for change in RTC, 30 days to avail building license, drinking water facilities, 15 days for trade license, seven days for NOC for electricity connection, possession certificate, trade license renewal, death and birth certificates.
The citizens charters help the public to avail the facilities without the help of middlemen, the Commissioner said.
