More than 3,000 students, senior citizens, employees, and police officers participated. Superintendent of Police Laxman Nimbargi and MAHE Pro Chancellor Dr H S Ballal flagged off the run, which passed through Upendra Pai Circle, Syndicate Circle, Venugopal Temple, MIT swimming pool, Kamath Cafe, and Tiger Circle before culminating at Manipal Edu Building.

Dr Ballal said that the run was organised to create awareness on drug abuse among youth.

Nimbargi said the future of the country depends on youth. To create awareness on drug abuse, the district police had been organising many awareness programmes for the past two months. The police and the law alone cannot curb the menace. There is a need for awareness in community as well to create a drug free society.

More than 100 police personnel including SP, ASP, DySP, CPI, PSI and ASIs participated in the run.
