Mangaluru: A 65-year-old woman died in an elephant attack at Kolthige village of Puttur taluk on April 29, Tuesday.
The deceased is Sellamma. In a complaint, T Yogaraja from Madavu in Puttur said that his mother was staying alone at CRC colony and was engaged in rubber tapping in the rubber plantation owned by KFDC.
When she was engaged in rubber tapping at Harthyadka in Kolthige village, an elephant attacked her. When she tried to flee, it chased her and stamped her, the complaint said. She sustained serious injuries and died on the spot. A case has been registered at Bellare Police station.
The forest officials, officials from KFDC, Sullia inspector and others visited the spot.
