Mangaluru: The Mangaluru city police arrested seven persons in connection with the stabbing and assault cases reported in Ullal, Kankanady Town and Kavoor Police station limits on May 2 during a bandh in protest against the murder of Suhas Shetty in Bajpe.
Commissioner of Police Anupam Agrawal said that a stabbing incident was reported at Kannur under Kankanady Town Police Station limits. Victim Naushad ( 39) was admitted to a private hospital, and a case was registered. In this connection, three persons, Lohitashwa ( 32), from Mudipu, Puneet ( 28), from Veeranagar, and Ganesh Prasad ( 23) from Kuthar, have been arrested.
The commissioner said that the arrested also admitted to their involvement in another stabbing incident committed earlier on the same day near Thokkottu. The victim is Faizal (40), a resident of Ullal. A case has been registered at Ullal.
The police also arrested four persons in an assault case reported in the Kavoor police station limits. Based on a complaint by Mohammed Luqman, a fish vendor, a complaint was registered. A group of 5–6 persons arrived in a black SUV and assaulted him using a helmet and by kicking and hitting, following an argument over taking photos at Derebail Konchadi. The arrested are Likhith (29), from Bajpe, Rakesh ( 34), from Kuthar, Dhanaraj alias Dhanu (24), from Surathkal, and Prashanth Shetty ( 26), from Belthangady and staying in Moodbidri. The arrested have been produced before the court.
