According to police, a group of fish merchants attacked another group in relation to a dispute over the auctioning of fish basket. The seven injured are Hamid Faizal, Anwar Hussain, Mohammed Ashraf Pavoor, Riyaz Pavoor, Abdul Lathif, Abu alias Monu and Anwar Hussain. They were reportedly attacked by lethal weapons by Khavunhi, Arif, Riyaz, Rameez and others.
It is said that during the auction held as usual before handing over the fish baskets, a group of fish merchants armed with swords came to the venue and attacked another group.
A case has been registered.
Pedestrian killed
A pedestrian was killed when an autorickshaw knocked him down at Vittal on Monday. According to police, the deceased has been identified as Vishwanatha Naika of Neralakatte. A case has been registered.
House burgled
Some unidentified miscreants gained entry into a house and decamped with gold ornaments, Rado watch, mobile set and cash worth Rs 2,97,000 at Moodabidri police station.
